The Rwandan Genocide in 1994 between Tutsi’s and the Hutu’s left an estimated 800,000 dead in 100 days. Many children were orphaned, and left living with relatives who suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD) as a result of the horrors they experienced. The impacts of such violence are not easily healed, and many continue to struggle recovering from the tragedy. This cycle of hurt and pain is one CCI and many others are worked tirelessly to break. Working with children and teaching them the love of Christ is the foundation of what ChildCare INTERNATIONAL stands for, and so it is our privilege to do so in Rwanda.
The country is healing, and shows remarkable progress with their 2020 Vision of strengthening the country’s governance, bolstering economic growth, and managing its natural resources.
